Lynch to Distribute Inland Empire Himself
Seeking to explore new methods of distribution, David Lynch has secured the rights for the US and Canada to his first digital video feature, Inland Empire.
Reaching an agreement with Studio Canal, Lynch proclaims, "It's a whole new world out there, even when it comes to distribution." The film's producer Mary Sweeney concurs stating, "David's decision to explore a new model of distribution is consistent with the fearless way in which he made 'Inland Empire.'"
The film, starring Laura Dern, Justin Theroux, Harry Dean Stanton and Jeremy Irons, took two and a half years to complete.

New York Film Festival
I saw INLAND EMPIRE at the Film Festival in New York. David Lynch said after the screening that the film will be in theaters in November or December. It's a beautiful film. I don't want to say much about it. Maybe just... what's the relationship between reality and film. And what's reality in a film. Peter Greenaway once said that we haven't seen real cinema yet, that it is "still an incomplete amalgam of other forms of art which have still not completely reached autonomy" and that he would suggest that "all we've seen is one hundred years of illustrated texts and maybe some recorded theater." INLAND EMPIRE is a real film. Not some picture book. It's cinema.
Pulled from Sitges Film Festival
StudioCanal has pulled David Lynch's INLAND EMPIRE from the Sitges Film Festival of Catalonia, Spain. Studio Canal's fear, said Sitges director Angel Sala, is that the three-hour cut of "INLAND EMPIRE" would play so well among Lynch die-hards at Sitges that Lynch would never be persuaded to re-edit it for commercial release. excerpt from an Irish music magazine called "Hotpress", they're talking about an Irish band called "The High Babies":
"On this side of the water, Chris Evan's crew have reportedly been
looking to book the band for an upcoming slot on TFI Friday. And even
more impressively The High Babies are lined up to make a cameo
appearance in the new - as yet untitled - David Lynch movie, which
begins shooting in Florida this summer. So Glen, how'd you manage to
swing that one? "We faxed him asking would he direct the video", he
reveals. "He didn't have the time, but he liked the cd. About a week
later we got the call to come over in June".
