Lyrics / David Lynch, Rammstein & filming Lost Highway / Order Rammstein CDs

Heirate mich.
So nehm ich was noch übrig ist

English translation
You see him creeping around the church.
There by the bells there sleeps a stone.
The fear gored on this fence
There by the bells I´m spending the night
Marry me.
I´m digging deep with my hands.
I embrace you tenderly
There by the bells I´m spending the night marry me.

David Lynch's love for music is well-known. He's using music on his sets to create a certain mood. He opened up his own sound and recording studio in 1998 to continue pursuing his musical interests.
While he was shooting the Death Row sequences for Lost Highway, David Lynch blasted Rammstein's "Herzeleid" album through two heavy loudspeakers. Moreover, he didn't just play it while he was shooting but also during the pauses. The Lost Highway crew was wild about it. Henry Rollins (who plays Prison Guard Henry) reported that the crew started to dance ecstatically to Rammsteins earsplitting sound. Eventually Asymmetrical (Lynch's Prduction Company) ordered more than 70 "Herzeleid" CDs from Motor Records (Germany) for the Crew. How did Lynch get in touch with the German band Rammstein? He mentioned in an interview with the French movie magazine "Positif" that Rammstein would send him their CDs but he didn't ever listen to it. One fine day - he was scouting through Death Valley searching for a perfect place to film some Lost Highway sequences - he happened to put Rammstein's "Herzeleid" album in his car stereo. This music was exactly what he was looking for and so the two Rammstein songs ended up on the Lost Highway soundtrack.
