The City of Absurdity   Mulholland Drive
Release Dates

David Lynch's new film, Mulholland Drive, which garnered the Special Jury Prize for Best Director at The Cannes Film Festival, opens on multiple screens in Los Angeles and New York on October 12. Described by its creator Lynch as "a love story set in the city of dreams," the film will also debut the same day in Seattle, Boston, Washington, D.C., San Diego, San Francisco, Denver, Philadelphia and Chicago. Universal Pictures is distributing.

"The David Lynch of Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks, of dark mysteries that defy easy explanation and invite metaphysical speculation, is back in Mulholland Drive," explains Hollywood Reporter film critic Kirk Honeycutt. And world-renowned critic Roger Ebert remarked, "I was surprised how much I admired it." Lynch sets the film in motion with disconnected scenarios, navigating a serpentine route through Los Angeles during the course of the film. His two riveting lead actresses, Laura Elena Harring and Naomi Watts, suddenly play different characters in the latter half of the film, while their attraction to one another creates an ill-fated love story marked by jealousy and manipulation. The cast also includes Justin Theroux, Ann Miller, Robert Forster and Dan Hedaya.
